Volunteer Job Descriptions

Announcer.

The host team will arrange for someone to act as announcer. 

The announcer keeps the meet flowing on time and efficiently. This person will announce each event before it starts and also announce the upcoming events so all swimmers and spectators know where we are and what is happening. (There is a simple script to follow). 


Bullpen.

This person is a shepherd. This person/people help the coaches organize the younger athletes so they can make it to the starting blocks on time for their events. 


Deck Manager. 

Each team will provide a deck manager. 

This person works with the coaches and the Bullpen Manager to get the kids in their right lanes and right events. 


Timers.

A timer stands behind each lane and starts/stops a stopwatch for each race. This person could also record the time on sheets given. Each lane must have at least 1 timer. 

Place Judges

Each team shall provide a place judge. 

The place judge calls the order of finish for each race. They will record it on their own program and pass that information to the Judge recorder. 


Judges Recorder. 

This person records the judges decision on the order of finish for each race. 

(This job is only for the home team)


Master Recorder. 

Each team will provide a Master Recorder. 

This person compiles all of the times and order of finish onto one page and hands that information to the computer operator. 


Runners. 

If necessary, the runner takes the race information compiled by the MR to the scoring table. 


Computer Operator.

One computer operator shall be provided from each team. 

This person inputs all of the times/places into a computer.
