Well, last night was tough!  And from everything I have seen it looks like all teams had to call their meets as well last night.  When a meet is called so early it results in a win for both teams (other options were to try and wait it out or to reschedule).  Thunder continued til at least 8pm last night so we would not have gotten the meet in.  So, make sure to bring extra cash next week and be ready to buy lots of candy (BIG THANK YOU to the Westcotts for all their hard work in Concessions)!!!!!!  Swimmers of the week will be announced on Monday as we had a very light showing at fun friday this morning and the coaches prefer to wait until more swimmers are present.

 

Our last HOME meet of the season is at  on Thursday, June 22d against Pinewalk.  RSVP's were due TODAY for this meet!  Attached are the rsvp's for this meet - please verify that you have rsvp'd for your swimmer.  The coaches will be handing out beads to those swimmers that beat their times for their events (in swimming your main competitor is the clock so we try and encourage swimmers to focus on their times instead of what place they finish the race).  And as always home meets mean we need a lot of volunteers to run the meet!  I know you all must get tired of receiving so many emails in regards to rsvp-ing your swimmers and for signing up for volunteering but it is absolutely necessary to have a swim meet.  BIG THANK YOU to Jill for taking care of making sure we have all the volunteers we need each week - it is hard job to take on!

Poster Contest!  We will be having a poster contest for our final home meet as well.  Swimmers are asked to make a poster to be hung up around the pool for our meet.  Swimmers may bring their posters to practice on Thursday (or bring it to the meet with them).  There were will be awards (such as "Best Diamondback", "Most Colorful", etc.)!  Swimmers may also work with a partner if they want but we ask that no more than two swimmers per poster.  And please make sure your swimmer includes their name and age on the back of their poster.  (The poster contest is not mandatory but it does look really cool when we can cover the interior of the pool fence with our posters - also prevents other teams from hanging their own signs....)  :)

 

Banquet!  Our team banquet is this Wednesday, June 28th at the pool.  We need some volunteers to help with cutting watermelon ahead of time and for helping serve food!  Please!!!!  If you can help out, please email our Social Chair, Tam Ahmed ([email protected]).  And a BIG THANK YOU to Tam for her awesome work with our fun ice cream social we had this past week!!!!

 

Championships!  The 2017 ASA Divisional Meet is Friday, June 30th from 3:00pm to 6:30pm (approximately).  RSVPs for this event are due next Wednesday, June 21st at 10pm.  This meet is held at Georgia Tech's aquatic center in the same pool that the 1996 Olympics were held.  It is an awesome opportunity for our swimmers!  On our website there is a tab for "ASA Championship Meet FAQ" that should answer any questions.  But feel free to email me with any as well ([email protected]). 

If you would like your swimmer(s) to swim in this meet please go on our website and RSVP prior to Wednesday, the 21st.  RSVPs must be submitted on time, there will be NO opportunity for late entries.  When you RSVP, in the comments section (below where you mark "yes" or "no") please type in what two events your swimmer would like to swim (swimmers get to choose their events for this meet but the coaches are happy to offer recommendations if you would like to speak with them).  You will also need to submit a $20 fee per swimmer for this meet.  Please either give checks to me or put in my mailbox (300 Leycroft Court), payable to Dunmoor Swim Team.

 

COAST!  Please see the attached file for information about COAST (City of Alpharetta Swim Team).  If you want to try out for this swimmers must attend ASA Divisionals and you MUST note this in the comments section of your rsvp for the Divisionals meet.  If you have questions about this meet please feel free to contact me as Nate has participated on this team in the past.
