Details for Mock Meet and Chartwell
Hi Diamondbacks! Are you ready for our first official meets of the season?!? If you are like us, then you are very excited!!
Sorry for all the emails- there is so much to share at the beginning of the season, and I want to make sure we are all on the same page with details!
Mock Meet on Wednesday, May 27th: Please arrive at the Dunmoor pool by 4:30. We will start warm ups then. We hope to publish the list of events your swimmer is swimming in tonight so you can mark arms tomorrow. Please see the website or FB page for how to do this.
We will try to get everyone through all of the events they can do for their age group so we get a starting time for the season for them. This helps in Meet line-ups for the future. There will not be any relays or IMs tomorrow.
Parents will be checking in to volunteer and learn their jobs. This is usually a little chaotic, but it's organized chaos and it's a lot of people's first time. That's what it's all about! We plan to have snacks and drinks for sale tomorrow! Also, there is no parking in the parking lot on Meet days. Please pay attention to the road signs and park on the side designated for the swim team.
Chartwell: Thursday, May 28th
Street Address:
9885 Rod Road, Johns Creek
Meet Schedule:
Dunmoor warm-ups @5:00 please arrive by 4:35 pm so we can make sure everyone is ready to go!
Timers Meeting @5:15/5:20
Meet Start @5:30
To set up the pool, it would be best if your team arrived no earlier than 4 pm, but coaches/team managers are welcome to come and set up as early as 3 pm.
Parking:
Parking is available in the lot, but at a minimum. Parking is also available on Rod Road, but only along one side (opposite to the clubhouse) of the street (please note the "no parking" signs) and at Newtown Park, which is just across the street (worst-case scenario).
We will set aside spots for coaches and team reps.
Food:
Burgers, hotdogs, drinks, and other concessions are available for cash/Venmo. There will also be King of Pops available.
Team Area:
Our team will be set up beside the tennis/pickleball courts. No one is allowed to play on the courts - there will most likely be some pickleball matches going on. We will rope off some spots in the roundabout next to the tennis and pickleball courts, so you are more than welcome to set up tents there. Also, we ask that you please clean up after your team. Spectators will want to bring lawn chairs, as we do not have much seating on the deck.
WHAT TO BRING TO A SWIM MEET (LABEL ALL PERSONAL ITEMS)
1. Team swimsuit, cap, and goggles.Having an extra cap or goggles packed in a bag is also a good idea. These items tend to rip or break at the most inopportune times!
Caps- we will provide one per swimmer. Keep up with these as you will need them for each swim meet.
2. Towels- 1-2 towels per swimmer; one to sit on and one to wrap up in
3. Portable chairs for parents
4. Spirit wear or clothes to put on in between races or when swimmers are finished racing.
5. Entertainment for swimmers such as games, cards, coloring books, books (electronics around a concrete pool deck and water is usually not a good idea).
6. Money for concessions. Meets will always have some sort of food available for purchase.
7. Coolers are allowed for additional drinks or healthy snacks at our home meets. They may or may not be allowed at away meets. NO GLASS! Please drink responsibly.
8. Your OWN Sharpie Marker if you want to allow your child to draw body art.
Let's go, Diamondbacks!
