Thank you
Parents,
First, I feel like I jinxed us on my last email... I am sorry. And, I will try to never mention the weather before a meet again.
Second, THANK YOU! I can not express enough how appreciative I am for you and all that you do. We endured another miserable weather night, but I saw a lot of huge smiles on the faces of our children. And those smiles are why I wanted to get the meet in. Thank you for enduring with us and teaching your kids how to have fun in the water. And, did everyone see Aria Joffe's smile during her freestyle swim! That might have been the biggest smile I have ever seen while someone is swimming! That was love of the sport.
If you were not behind the blocks today, or on the side of the pool as volunteer, please go buy one of those volunteers a beer. It was a long night for them, and they deserve a huge thank you. If you weren't one of those, please sign up for next week. You will probably luck out and have a perfect night to work the meet.
Third, I am so proud of all of our kids for their resilience and effort today. Additionally, they are doing a fantastic job supporting each other and cheering from all areas of the pool. If your child has a horse voice tomorrow, please congratulate them on supporting their teammates.
Lastly, our swimmers of the week represent a continuation on our theme of supporting one another.
Congratulations Ella Guggenheim! Ella has done a yeoman's work this season in the pool. She used to routinely swim double workouts because she just loved swimming, and she often has many events on meet days because she has the versatility to swim everything. But, those are not the reasons for this weeks award. She was visible, and vocal, and supportive of her teammates all night. I think she lost her voice, but it was well spent.
Congratulations Ethan Richardson and Leo Zhang! Not only did Leo drop another 5 seconds from his 25 free, but he was another vocal supporter of our team. The pint sized boy had enthusiasm that was felt by many. It is so wonderful to see such a young boy become such a big presence on the team.
Ethan was another that went up and down the pool cheering on his teammates. He helped the coaches behind the block and at the finish end of the pool "catching heads." Leo and Ethan's contributions made our team better today.
Thank you again for your participation and assistance in making this team wonderful.
I will be doing entries for the ASA Championship meet this weekend. If you want to attend the meet after I submit entries, it will be a $40/event late entry fee. Please complete the registration for the meet, and include any events your child would like to swim. If you want to discuss it, please let me know and we can find a time to chat before I submit the entries.
Thank you,
Mark
