Reminders!!

Thanks for an awesome meet Thursday evening. Our swimmers looked like they had a great time and lots of kids dropped their times which they should be pretty proud of. Pat them on the back for a job well done! Couple things to remember moving forward in the season…

Sportsmanship

It came to our attention that several of our own Dunmoor parents were talking loudly at the meet about our own Dunmoor coaches, reps, and the line ups in a rude and disrespectful manner at various points during the meet. These types of comments are not helpful and are not in line with the code of conduct signed by parents and swimmers; neither, do these comments create a positive environment for our swimmers, coaches, and other parents. Any future comments observed will result in the enforcement of our code rules, specifically related to both disqualification of parents and/or swimmers from attending any future meets or practices, and possibly not being invited to participate in future years. If you have an issue that needs to be addressed, we invite you to contact us at [email protected]

Rules Reminder

Remember the rules are our friends, not just silly reminders of what to do at a swim meet. Follow them and you will go far. Remember Play Nice and Play Fair.

ASA Championships at GA Tech

The ASA Divisional Meet will be held Friday, June 28th at 3:00PM and Championship Finals will be held Saturday, June 29th at the Olympic swimming and diving venue on the Georgia Tech campus. This event is optional and is open to any level swimmer. It’s an amazing experience for the swimmers to swim in the pool that the 1996 Atlanta Olympics were held. If they post a good time, the swimmers may qualify for the finals on that Saturday. Swimmers will be able to swim in 2 individual events and 2 relays if we have enough swimmers in that particular age group. Parents will be required to stay the entire day with their swimmer(s). Some parents will be asked to volunteer for a portion of the meet. Deadline is Tuesday June 18th. This is a fun, unique experience for the swimmers and a great way to end the season. Cost is $23 per swimmer payable to Dunmoor Diamondbacks via check, Vemno @Dunmoorswim or PayPal [email protected] If you have specific questions about this meet please reach out to us.

Entry Limit and Swimming Up

Summer Swim Leagues are governing by ASA rules and regulations. Each swimmer may enter two individual scoring events and two relays (one medley and one free) with the following exceptions: A swimmer may enter a third individual scoring event to fill all legal lanes provided all other swimmers from that team in that age group are entered in at least two individual scoring events. A swimmer may not enter in more than three individual scoring events unless all other swimmers in that age group are entered in three individual scoring events and so on. Swimming up on relays is allowed but does not compel a swimmer to swim up for their individual events. Please remember swimmers can swim on only one medley and one free relay.

Deadline for Hampton Hall Meet

We have a hard deadline of Tuesday, June 11th at 12PM for meet entries and volunteer jobs. Line Ups need to be exchanged and there are many behind the scene moving parts. Please make sure you sign up your swimmers and volunteer.

Volunteer Jobs

Please arrive on time and know your job description. All this info can be found on our website under Team. For Hampton Hall Meet we currently have 63 swimmers from 40 families. We need 50 volunteers (provided no one has an emergency and can’t make it) and we already have 4 families doubling up for both shifts. We have 10 jobs remaining so 10 more families are going to need to double up.

Dunmoor Team Pics – June 14th

We are scheduled with Photo Ventures https://www.photoventuresinc.com/home.html again this year for individual and team pictures. Please have your swimmer arrive at 9:30AM in their team swimsuits and team shirt. We will still have Fun Friday with donuts, ribbons and Swimmer of the Week. We have order forms now and will hand out that morning as well.

End of Season Banquet and Awards – June 26th

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, June 26th 6:00PM – 9:00PM. We will celebrate a great season with dinner, awards and of course swimming.

At the end of the day Summer Swim League was created to provide the opportunity for our kids to participate in a summer program that balances and promotes both a recreational and competitive swimming environment. Our coaches provide proper swim technique and instruction, encourage personal improvement, good sportsmanship, teamwork and team spirit all while providing neighborhood camaraderie. While it might be nice if Dumoor produces the next Michael Phelps the likelihood of creating this anomaly is probably not going to happen. Most important is that the kids are having fun!
